Over 3,000 years ago, people learned how to melt iron. It was a milestone in the development of our civilization. Today, after centuries of production improvements, modern steels are the most innovative materials for the state-of-the-art technologies. Huta Częstochowa has been smelting and processing steel for 120 years. During this time, it has produced over 50 million tonnes of steel, which has been processed mainly into plate and pipes. In the past, it was also processed into rails, wire and wire rod.
Experience, knowledge and skills characterise the employees of the steelworks. The steelworks is equipped with advanced technology to produce high-quality products in an environmentally-friendly manner. The high level of work and products manufactured is supported by the Quality Management System that meets ISO 9001:2000 requirements.
Our state-of-the-art production line can produce many high quality steels. The steel is smelted in the KONEL electric arc furnace and then homogenized and refined in a ladle furnace and vacuum degasser. The steel is smelted from pig iron, scrap and alloying elements to obtain our main product, heavy plate.
This biggest plant of the Steelworks is where the plate is produced. The quatro reversing rolling mill with MULPIC system enables the production of many categories of plate suitable for multiple applications. After rolling, depending on its purpose, plate can be normalised, hardened, tempered. In addition, thermomechanical rolling can be used to obtain appropriate strength parameters. Two separate cut to length lines allow to obtain plate of both standard and special dimensions.
